Gold Star Sitters is an introduction site. Every Gold Star Sitter is a qualified early childhood educator or teacher. We do not book sitters for you. You find one, meet them and agree the details between you.

Search by suburb
Pick your suburb and see sitters who live within 15 km. Every profile is public. You see the photo, first name, age, qualification, rate, availability and reviews before you pay anything.

Message or post a job
A membership lets you message sitters and post jobs. A job goes by email to matching sitters nearby that evening. If you need someone within 48 hours, it goes straight away to sitters who have said they can do short notice.

Meet and interview
Meet the sitter before they look after your children. Ask to see their Working with Children Check or VIT registration, their first aid certificate and their references.

Pay the sitter directly
You agree the rate and hours with the sitter and pay them yourself. We never handle that money and take no cut of it.
What we check
One thing. Before a profile goes live, we sight the sitter’s qualification certificate once and confirm the name on it matches the profile. We record the qualification and the date we sighted it, then delete the copy.
Everything else on a profile is the sitter’s own statement. Every sitter agrees to hold a current Working with Children Check or VIT registration. We do not check it, you do. First aid, police check and references are declared by the sitter too. See the full list of what we check.
What you check at interview
- 1Their Working with Children Check card or VIT registration. You can look both up online.
- 2Their first aid certificate and the date on it.
- 3Their references. Call at least one.
- 4That you are comfortable with them. Meet in person before you leave your children with anyone.

What a membership is for
Searching and reading profiles is free. You need a membership to message a sitter or post a job. It is one payment for 3, 6 or 12 months and it does not renew.
If no sitter replies to you within 14 days of joining, we refund it in full. See pricing.
Who the sitters are
Early childhood educators and teachers who want evening and weekend work. They are independent, not our staff. Each sets their own rate, hours and minimum booking, and shows it on their profile.
There is no insurance from us for you or the sitter. If that matters to you, raise it at interview.
